2008 Great Lakes Anarchist Location Announced

June 7th & 8th The Collingwood Arts Center Community Room Toledo will be hosting the third annual Great Lakes Anarchist Gathering, a regional conference aimed at creating a stronger regional community as well as greater public understanding and awareness of anarchist thought and action.

This will be the second year that Toledo has been honored with hosting the event, and follows on the heels of an extremely successful 2007 GLAG that drew people from across the country, including speakers and presenters such as authors John Zerzan, Kevin Tucker and Lorain Perlman.

Presentations and workshops will cover a wide array of topics, from women's health, self defense and regional environmental issues to planning for the upcoming national protests at the Republican National Convention. Participants will also enjoy original art and film presentations, as well as live music, all in the festive atmosphere of the concurrently happening Old West End Festival. The event is free and open to the public.

Are you sure you want to invite Kevin Tucker? He's been involved in some pretty fucked up behavior:

We haven't heard anything from Kevin this year, but he was a guest last year. Both he and John Zerzan did a decent job of articulating their ideas about industrial civilization and anarchism and were very open to discussion and criticism.

Are you planning on getting involved with the event this year? We can always use more help organizing, or even just more input.
